The South Mountain Crocheters had a really great meeting for March and I wanted to say a special "Thank you" to Catherine for her great presentation. I don't know about you guys, but it did inspire me to investigate different projects that I could do with the plastic grocery bags. We discussed the possibilities for demonstrations for future meetings so if you have any ideas feel free to email me. We have some interest sparked for a group Fair Blanket submission. This would be coordinating everyone making a 9 X 9 inch square and then assembling it. The squares could be done in a stitch and pattern of your choice but we will want to coordinate the type of yarn and be sure that they come out to 9 X 9 for consistency.
I wanted to give you all a quick reminder that this month's meeting will be a joint meeting with the South Mountain Knitters Guild. It will be held on April 19th at 7pm at the Roy Rogers, 301 Ballenger Center Drive in Frederick. There is a link to Google Maps on our website for driving directions. We will be having a guest, Mary Penxa, owner of Wendy's Knit Shop in Brunswick, MD. A special thank you to Susan Berte from the SMK for coordinating and organizing this meeting!
Also, we discussed the possibility of working on an organized charity project. Sandy Gold found information on making chemo hats for veterans. I am providing the information she gave and if there is interest please feel free to begin making the hats and we can see how many we have at our May meeting and if we would like to make more at that time. Here is the information from Sandy:
This organization is trying to collect 5000 by Veterans Day. Here's the info on the project:

One of the patterns on their website is for a single crochet hat but you can choose any pattern you want. They do require the hat be made from one of their required yarns but the list includes several that are available from local craft stores.
Here's the donation form and list of required yarns:

Again, if anyone has interest in doing a demonstration or has an idea for a demonstration they would like to see at our May meeting, please email me and I will do my best to coordinate the demonstration. I hope to see you all on April 19th and our May meeting will be held on May 31st at our usual meeting place, AC Moore in Frederick.
Happy Crocheting!!!
Kristina
