Warm Up America CGOA Challenge June 30, 2017

After much research on where and when to send/drop off the rectangles, I have discovered that we can either send the rectangles to the main office of Warm Up America. However, they recommend that the groups put the afghans together themselves and donate locally. At our next meeting, Tuesday, May 30, before start working on Tunisian bobbles and lace, we can decide how we want to proceed. I am still collecting rectangles and have even put a call out on my personal Facebook page to any and all crocheters (and knitters) that if they want to donate their rectangles to us or their time to put them together, I am listening. There is actually a lot more to the Warm Up America than just the afghans, which I will share with you all at the meeting as well. As of now we have about 40 rectangle but we still have about 6 weeks until the end of the challenge.  Get those crochet hooks moving and lets see how many we can get done before the end of the challenge. So for now we are collecting rectangles and will happily take donations from any and everyone who wants to participate!!!

Enjoy all and see you soon.

2nd Knitting Guild Meeting

We had an great night yesterday! We practiced our knit and purl stitches and worked on projects! This was only our second meeting, but we had a good turnout and even had a new person show up to the meeting.  We love meeting new people and every one is always welcomed to join us.  My grand-kids even made an appearance.

National Night Out is August 1 this year and the knitters agreed that we needed to participate again this year. Last year, the crochet group sat alone, but this year, we will represent knitting and crochet fiber arts!!! We had a great time last year, so I'm hoping for the same this year!!!

Our next meeting is Tuesday, May 30th at Wegman's on Rt. 26 from 6 -8 pm.  We will be learning Tunisian bobbles and lace.  We are also continuing with out Warm Up America block project!  Knit and crochet blocks are welcomed. As always, bring completed projects you want to show to the rest of the group - we love seeing them!!!

See ya all soon.

Crocheter Meeting on Tuesday, April 25

We had a great evening crocheting together. We continued learning more Tunisian stitches by working the Warm Up America sections to practice. We have some new members, and of course, old timers that have helped to grow this group. However, we are always looking for more people who enjoy crocheting and want to give back to the community. Come join us at our next meeting on Tuesday, May 9th! This is our casual meeting where we work on our current projects or continue to make sections for the Warm Up America project. Remember to bring any current or completed projects to show to us!  Joining the South Mountain Crochet Guild is free, so come on out and have some fun.

South Mountain Knitting Guild

South Mountain Knitting Guild became official on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 after a long hiatus. We had 5 people attend our first meeting, but would love to see more. If you want to learn to knit or are a Master Knitter, come join us on the third Tuesday of each month at Wegmans on Route 26 (Clemsons Corner) from 6pm to 8pm in the main dining room by the TV.  We are working on a great charity project (Warm Up America!) and are going to be learning basic stitches for some of our newer knitters. Come join the fun! There is no fee to show up, knit, and enjoy the evening.
